We are delighted to announce that Connect Charity have been awarded the Silver Award for CSR Accreditation. The process involved formalising our CSR Policy to illustrate how we deliver the 4 pillars of accreditation, which include:

Our silver accreditation is a visible testimony of how we work with our clients. Connect Charity are putting together a team that will take on an intrepid challenge… and all to raise money for charity!

The beautiful Jurassic Coast from Bournemouth to Weymouth is the challenging route, you will take in amazing views as you walk along the coastal path with runners, joggers and walkers.

Join us to take on the 1st Half Challenge – 58km walk – setting out from Poole on Saturday morning.

Times: Poole, Saturday 21 July; 8am – 10am
Route: Poole start to Weymouth finish line
Target time: 10 – 17 Hours (Sat evening finish time)

Inclusions:
Snack & energy stops at approx every 12.5km
Hot meal at 58km finish line (Sat dinner)

Optional extras you can book:
Optional baggage transfer to finish (bookable on the day in cash)
Meal at 27km (free snacks still available)
Spectator meals at 27km and 58km
Parking at Weymouth (finish)
Park in Weymouth, transfer to the start
Optional coach transfer back to the start in Poole after your challenge.

Connect Charity are delivering a unique charity event on behalf of Berkshire Vision, the local sight loss charity supporting the visually impaired and blind of Berkshire. The charity shoot is being held on Thursday 19th April 2018 at the renowned Royal Berkshire Shooting School, Pangbourne, Berkshire.

The event is a team based event and encourages companies to get involved in a fabulous event that enables them to entertain clients, bring together teams, say a ‘thank you’ or simply network with a broad range of businesses from in and around the Thames Valley.

The venue is set in superb countryside in the heart of Berkshire, where the school has a reputation for holding successful events, which include celebrity guests from all over the country.

The day promises to be full of excitement, with a competitive edge! Arriving at 9am to a warm welcome and breakfast, the day starts with a briefing. Shooting will commence at 10.15am.  Each Team of 4 individuals will shoot ten stands, including a simulated pheasant flush. At midday snacks and refreshments are served from within the school pagoda, located at the heart of the valley.

When shooting has finished, guests make their way down to the Lodge for a Taittinger champagne reception. A three course lunch follows with speeches and prize giving for the Top Gun and Top Team. Even Clay Conservationist Teams will be recognised.

Step Up 4 Good is back again this year and its even bigger and better!

Connect Charity are delivering the family focussed fun-run on behalf of the Greenham Trust and The Good Exchange. The course includes a mini-mile, 3k, 5k and 10k route that stretches out across the Common.

The Good Exchange is a funding platform that has been developed to bring together funders and fundraisers for good causes. The Step Up 4 Good challenge encourages runners to take part and raise valuable funds through sponsorship for their favourite cause which can be found on The Good Exchange. 

Races are available for all ages and abilities. There will be chip timing set up for all competitors and results are published online.

Awards and Prizes can be won by the first three male and female runners! All finishers will receive medals and t-shirts.

The intrepid challengers completed the 50km Thames Path Challenge, battling rain, wind and mud from Runnymede to Henley-on-Thames on September 10th 2016.

The 22 members of the team supported 9 charities as they took on the distance and fought the elements with every step. The team included staff members from Berkshire Vision, local business women and a visually impaired walker, Derek Gardner who was a real inspiration.

With many weeks of training as the team dedicated their time and energy to prepare for the event they came together on the day to cross the finish line in amazing times ranging from 8 – 11 hours. Each walker thoroughly deserved their medal and glass of bubbles!

The team raised over £15,000 for 9 charities with over £9,000 being donated to local sight loss charity, Berkshire Vision.

It was an amazing event to be part of and a real achievement with the donations being raised for each charity. So what’s next year?

Taking on the 50km route from Runnymede to Henley-on-Thames the team will train to build strength and fitness in the run-up to the big day which takes place on Saturday 10thSeptember 2016. You will have support from local fitness and walking experts at DA Fitness and Best Life Basics. It’s a great way to meet new friends and get fit along the way!

The route will take in the beautiful riverside scenery and remains flat for the majority of the walk.

If you choose to support local sight loss charity, Berkshire Vision you will be making a difference to over 2,000 people throughout Berkshire that suffer with some form of sight loss.

Over 160 guests attended a night to remember when they signed up for the Berkshire Vision 80’s fundraiser held at Reading University on Friday 23rd October.

All those 80’s outfits came out as everyone got into the party mood 80’s style. There were prizes for the best dressed and props ranging from inflatable guitars and microphones to glow-sticks and sunshades for all to enjoy.

The evening was a great success although we’re not too sure that everyone remembered it!

Working closely with Michelin starred restaurant, L’Ortolan in Reading we planned, developed and delivered a day to remember for guests to enjoy.

The stunning venue was the perfect setting for the fundraising event for the John Sykes Foundation where a fantastic range of super cars was available for guests to drive and enjoy in the sunshine.

With 8 supercars ready to drive, the day was a unique opportunity to enjoy driving a dream car. The cars included a Tesla P85D, McLaren 650s, Aston Martin N430, Lamborghini Huracan, Bentley GTC, BMW i8, Jaguar F-Type and Maserati Quattroporté. The selection was stunning.

The event was a great success and raised over £1,800 for the charity. They also enjoyed a range of positive PR in the local press and lifestyle magazines.

Working with the 100 year old charity, Berkshire County Blind Society we had to understand what needed to improve. Through a survey of all stakeholders and the wider public we were able to establish that the current image of the charity was tired and out of date, not fit for purpose.

The decision was taken that they needed to update their identity, personality and vision for the future. We worked with the charity to understand what they wanted to achieve from the change and why it was needed. The organisation was rebranded and renamed as Berkshire Vision.

The charity knew they wanted to attract younger clients so that the service they deliver can continue to develop offering more socially inclusive programmes and a sporting portfolio that gives those that are visually impaired, experiences they may otherwise not be able to access.

They also knew that they neededto diversify income streams, to appeal to a wider public who would offer support and attract a range of donors. Through a marketing and fundraising strategy Connect Charity are working closely with Berkshire Vision to raise the profile and income of the charity so that it can enjoy another 100 years of service.

The new dynamic, fresh logo and name reflects everything the charity wanted to achieve and is a positive investment in its future success.
